Candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process including Physical Efficiency Test, Written Examination, Interview, and Medical Test. The selection criteria vary for each position and are detailed below:

Scheme of Recruitment Test:
For Sub-Inspectors: Consists of Physical Efficiency Test (100 Marks), Written Examination (300 Marks), and Interview (50 Marks). Total marks: 450.
For Guardsman, Driver, and equivalent ranks: Includes Physical Efficiency Test (200 Marks), Written Examination (200 Marks), and Interview (50 Marks). Total marks: 450.
For Non-combatant Employees: Comprises Physical Efficiency Test (200 Marks) and Trade Test/Interview (50 Marks). Total marks: 250.
Medical Test: Conducted for candidates who qualify in the Written Test, ensuring they meet specified medical standards.
Candidates should be free from:-
- Bad eyesight.
- Knock Knees.
- Any other defects in the body.
- Any debilitating disease which in the opinion of the doctor is likely to impede the candidates’ functioning in the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Candidates failing to meet minimum height requirements will be rejected, and further tests will not be conducted for them.
Registration and Authentication of Candidates: After PMT, candidates register at the Physical Efficiency Test counters, where biometric data is captured for authentication.
5 KM Race for Male and 3 KM for Female Candidates: Each candidate is issued an RFID tag for timing during the Physical Efficiency Test. Male candidates must complete the 5 KM race within 24 minutes, while female candidates must finish the 3 KM race within 19 minutes.
Written Examination: Candidates qualifying in the Physical Efficiency Test proceed to the written examination. For Sub-Inspectors, it includes three papers: General English, Elementary Mathematics/Reasoning/Science, and General Knowledge. For Guardsman, Driver, and equivalent posts, there's one paper covering English, Arithmetic, and General Awareness. No written test for Non-combatant Employees.
Personal Interview: Candidates with twice the number of vacancies will be called for the interview from among those who qualified in the Physical Efficiency Test and Written Test, except for Non-combatant Employees, where only those who qualify in the Physical Efficiency Test will be called.
How to Apply for Meghalaya Home Guard Recruitment 2024
Application forms are available from April 1st, 2024 onwards at designated offices upon payment of Rs.50/-. Completed applications, along with attested copies of required documents, must be submitted by hand or by registered post to District Home Guards Commandant offices or District Training Centers. Applications received after the deadline or incomplete applications will not be entertained.
Applications should include attested copies of educational certificates, birth certificate, caste/domicile certificate, and training certificates for relevant positions.
Application form will be available with effect from the 1st of April, 2024 onwards through offices of the DISTRICT HOME GUARDS COMMANDANT SHILLONG/ JOWAI /TURA, DISTRICT TRAINING CENTERS NONGSTOIN/ MAWKYRWAT, NONGPOH, WILLIAMNAGAR, RESUBELPARA, BAGHMARA, AMPATI AND CENTRAL TRAINING INSTITUTE, CIVIL DEFENCE & HOME GUARDS, MAWDIANGDIANG, SHILLONG, on payment of Rs.50/- (Rupees fifty rupees) only.
